Language is one of the main seeds of a person’s ethnic identity. Not only is it a means of communicating thoughts and ideas, but it forges friendships, cultural ties and economic relationships. The Indian constitution recognizes 18 official Indian languages. Hindi is the official language of India. English also has the official status.
